nglesey… an Island with a long and ancient Celtic History. A Druid stronghold during the Roman Invasion it was known as Ynys Dywyll (the Shady Isle) and was considered one of their most sacred and magical places.

Lanidan parish Church, brynciensyn, Anglesey Off the West Coast lies Holy Island with Holyhead, the largest of Anglesey's towns and North Wales'main seaport. A lively place with a unique character, it is home to an award winning Maritime Museum and the Ucheldre Arts Centre.

The Welsh name for Holyhead is Caergybi, meaning 'the fortress of Cybi" A C6th Cornish Saint, Cybi built a small Church within the walls of the Roman settlement, which stand in the centre of the town. Withstanding Viking raids in AD 961, it thrived becoming today's busy Town. The present Church dates from C13th.

above South Stack is a Bronze Age Hill fort "Cyttiau'r Gwyddelod" (translated as "Huts of the Irishmen").

Beaumaris, on the eastern side of Anglesey has splendid views over the Menai Straits and along the North Wales coast. At its'heart is the Cromlech of Bodowyr, Isle of Angleseyunfinished 13th Castle built by King Edward I. Many Standing Stones and ancient Burial Chambers can be found on Anglesey, most notable are at Bryn Celli Ddu and Din Lligwy. During the month of August the quaint fishing village of Cemaes Bay is host to a Celtic Festival, with Celts from all over Europe joining in the festivities. The Market Town of Llangefni is home to the Heritage Centre - Oriel Ynys Môn where visitors can experience aspects of the Islands history and culture. Many excellent Restaurants and Pubs can be discovered across the Island, where visitors will find a warm welcome and fine local cuisine.
