The Welsh name for Holyhead is Caergybi, meaning 'the fortress of Cybi" A C6th Cornish Saint, Cybi built a small Church within the walls of the Roman settlement, which stand in the centre of the town. Withstanding Viking raids in AD 961, it thrived becoming today's busy Town. The present Church dates from C13th.
